BIO
Argentinian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Amancay Pastawski was born in Santa Fe, Argentina. She completed her Licenciatura in Musical Arts (MPA) at the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires and graduated from the Opera Studio of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata. She has recently finished an Opera masters at the Higher Institute of Arts Teatro Colon (ISATC). She was granted important scholarships from the Mozarteum Argentino in 2013/2014 and from the National Foundation of Arts. She has participated in masterclasses and courses by Joyce DiDonato, Raul Gimenez, Silvia Getszy, Wolfgang Scheidt, Gabriel Garrido, Alicia Nafé and Bernarda Fink.
She was finalist in the contest “Neue Stimmen 2013” and "Hans Gabor Belvedere 2016" She won “Competition in Argentinian Art Song Argentmúsica Foundation”; "New Voices for Colón Theater 2008" and the role of Cenerentola in the "4th edition Contest Opera San Juan"
As a soloist in opera she made her debut at age 19 in the role of Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro) at the Teatro del Libertador San Martin in the city of Cordoba. In 2013 she made her Colon Theater debut in the The Marriage of Figaro, and since then appeared in Werther, The Fiery Angel, Parsifal, Rusalka and L'enfant et les sortileges. She has sung in Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Avenida for the companies Juventus Lyrica and Buenos Aires Lirica. (Argentina) and in Teatro Municipal Santiago (Chile), Teatro Municipal Temuco (Chile) and Teatro Juarez (Guanajuato-Mexico).
She has recently made with her role debut as Romeo I Capuleti e I Montecchi and Poppea in L'íncoronazione both in the company Buenos Aires Lirica, receiving excellent reviews in the press.
Among other performances where she has stood out are: Angelina (Cenerentola), Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte), Despina (Cosi Fan Tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Kutchik (Rusalka), Siebel (Faust), L’enfant (L’enfant et les sortilèges), Miles (Turn of the screw), Stephano (Romeo and Juliet), Wellgunde (Rheingold).
She has sung with conductors such as Alejo Perez, Roberto Paternostro, Ira Levin, Herbert Mogg, Konstantin Chudovsky, Pedro Pablo Prudencio, Jorge Parodi, Ruben Dubrovsky, Luis Otavio Santos, Jorge Lavista, Gabriel Garrido, Iñaki Encina, Hernan Schvartzman, Janko Kastelic, Emmanuel Siffert and has worked with the stage directors Marcelo Lombardero, Hugo de Ana, Pablo Maritano, Volker Vögel, Ruben Szuchmacher, Ana D’anna, Maria Jaunarena among many others
As a member of The Chamber Opera Teatro Colon cast, Mrs Pastawski has participated as Bessie in Mahagonny Songspiel at the Santiago a Mil Festival (Chile) and at the Colón Theatre Summer Festival, also as Juana Castrada in Das Wundertheater in the Usina del Arte and on tour in Festival Cervantino (Mexico) and recently this year as Rosina Cariuccia in Scarlatti's opera "Il trionfo dell'onore"
Other performances in these last years include Despina(Cosi Fan Tutte) in the Teatro Argentino de la Plata, L’enfant (L’enfant et les sortilèges) in Teatro Colon, Nerone (Agrippina) in the Picadero Theater for Buenos Aires Lirica ,Kutchtik (Rusalka) in Teatro Colon, Sesto (Giulio Cesare) and Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos) as understudy in Teatro Colon.
Mrs. Pastawski was invited by the stage director Marcelo Lombardero to participate in the Cafe-concert "Bromas y Lamentos" performing mainly pieces by Monteverdi, appearing in several theatres in Argentina and on tour in Guanajuato (Mexico) for the Festival Cervantino, Miami (USA) for the International Hispanic Theatre Festival, and in Guadalajara (México) for the opening of the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas.
